Public Access Defibrillators.

After a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces someone’s chance of survival by 10%

Since 2018, Jay’s Aim has provided public access defibrillators (PADs) in more than 50 locations throughout South-West England. By providing these PADS, we hope to increase the likelihood of a defibrillator being available in an emergency cardiac-arrest situation; wherever possible, our PADs are placed on the outside of buildings in highly-visible cabinets, making them available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Public support enables us to fund these defibrillators, cabinets and signage at venues across the South-West, working with local communities to find the optimal location in each case.

We help establishments to register their new defibrillator with the South Western Ambulance Service (SWAST) – this simply requires the establishment to appoint a guardian able to carry out a few quick, easy monthly checks and submit the results online, thus ensuring the equipment remains in good working order and ready for an emergency. We remain in touch with every establishment that receives one of our defibrillators.

We need your help! Jay’s Aim is trying to establish the areas most in need of a defibrillator in South-West England. If you would like to apply for a defibrillator for your sports club, place of education or other area where you exercise or socialise, please get in touch with us using the link below.

We use a range of criteria when assessing PAD applications. These include the number of young people who could potentially benefit from the device being installed at a proposed site; the accessibility of that site for the general public; and the proximity of any other PADs to the site. All successful PAD applications will receive free CPR/AED training, so club members, students and the local community can be confident in using the equipment correctly during an emergency.

iPAD SP1 Defibrillator
£924.00

The iPAD SP1 defibrillator has been developed with the end user in mind, making it as easy as possible to use. Its award-winning design and high-quality manufacture incorporate the latest in defibrillation technology to assist the user in saving precious seconds when every second counts. With its robust one-piece design and high performance, the iPAD SP1 intelligently guides a rescuer through the resuscitation procedure with large clear illuminated instructions and calm voice prompts giving guidance at every step. The iPAD SP1 unit is available in two different models, one offering fully automatic shock operating mode and one offering semi-automatic shock operating mode. The British Heart Foundation and The Football Association selected the iPAD SP1 as the AED unit of choice for promotion in their campaign to install defibrillators at all grassroots football clubs throughout England.

Our Favourite Feature:

Simple switch from adult to child mode – A great defibrillator for any venues that cater for both adults and children. The same pads can be used on both adults and children with just a flick of a button, meaning minimal fuss and complication in an emergency. They’re also some of the cheapest pads on the market when it comes to the time to replace them.

Other Features:

  • Operations status indicator for battery and pad life

  • Free, robust carry case

  • Daily self-checks

  • Electrode pads for use on adults and children (age1+)

  • Clear visual and verbal guidance

  • Ambient noise adjustment

  • CPR detection and metronome

  • Large internal memory with simple data access

  • Less than 6 seconds from completion of CPR to shock delivery

  • Disposable battery pack

  • 7-year warranty, which can be upgraded to 10 years free of charge.

  • Dimensions: 260mm x 256mm x 69.5mm (Width x Length x Height)

  • Weight: 2.4kg (Including the battery pack and pads)

In operation, the iPAD SP1 intelligently guides the user with calm voice prompts and large, clear illustrations which illuminate to highlight key commands.  Instructions are given at every step and importantly, the voice prompts automatically adjust to background noise. This can be crucial when surrounding noise escalates and in challenging environments if sudden cardiac strikes.  The ambient noise detector is also useful in busy training environments.

Should the need arise for a defibrillator to be used on a child, the iPAD SP1 is equipped with pre-connected dual electrode pads that can be used on both adults and children. By simply lifting a clear, safety cover on the front, the device can be switched immediately to paediatric mode. This saves valuable time and anxiety in an emergency.

Importantly, the iPAD SP1 defibrillators are fully pad compatible with defibrillators carried on front line NHS Ambulances. A simple plug-in adapter saves pad changes when backup arrives, assisting in patient care, saving precious time and indeed costs.

Widely used by the NHS Ambulance Service, the Emergency Services and in Public Access schemes, community projects and commercial organisations.Clear and user friendly to operate and maintain.
